Ryan Martinez entered the State University of New York at New Paltz as a freshman in 2017 and saw the field right away, contributing eight goals and 11 assists thus far in an up-start program. Martinez exceeded that success in the classroom, where he earned his name on the SUNYAC Academic Commissioner's Honor Roll and was enshrined in the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society as a Mechanical Engineering major.
 
Through his experiences as a Hawk, Martinez talked about why there is only one SUNY New Paltz. 
 

"There's only one university in which no one is left behind, where faculty, mentors, advisors, and coaches all work together in unison to ensure the success of the student body. There's only one university where everyone is accepted regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. There's only one university whose campus has breathtaking views of Mohonk Mountain with easy access to walking and hiking trails to allow for individuals to become fully in tune with nature. There's only one university whose main emphasis is to ensure that graduates are fully prepared to tackle any problem that is presented in front of them regardless of the difficulty. There's only one university who strives to create an environment where students are pushed beyond their limits to achieve their goals and aspirations. There's only one university that provides all of this and more and that is SUNY New Paltz."
