Sebastian Gordon-Somers-Archer starred on the State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team for four seasons, ending his career with his most prolific outing as a senior in 2018. Gordon-Somers-Archer led the Hawks to one of its best seasons in more than 50 years, being named First-Team All-SUNYAC, SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-East Region and was recognized as a Scholar All-American recipient.
Gordon-Somers-Archer talks about his time as a Hawk and why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.
"Whether you have heard of Her or not, New Paltz is the place to be. Sitting in the crest of the Mohonk Mountain Ridge, there is a small athletic department that manages to accomplish much more than what is expected of Her. Year after year, through ups and downs, the teams manage to unify in their quest to disturb the peace elsewhere, stunning our opponents and then returning safely home to our Nest. New Paltz recruits athletes from all over who are ready to run through walls for the town and has thus created the mentality that anything less than 150 percent effort is to underachieve. No other school can compete with our desire to surprise and THAT is why there is Only One."
