Taylor Russell starred on the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team for four seasons before graduating with a degree in Communication Disorders in 2019. She helped the program to its best season in history as a senior, aiding in the team's first playoff berth.
Â
During her career, Russell tallied 18 goals and 30 assists, tying for seventh all-time in program assists and third for single-season assists with 26 in 2019. Russell excelled in the classroom as well, as she also earned spots on the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2018 and 2019 and was enshrined in the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society.
Â
Russell talked about her experience as a Hawk and why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.Â

Â
"SUNY New Paltz provides students with the academic foundation and tools needed to excel in all areas of their lives. Since graduating in 2019, the connections I have made in both the academic and athletic communities at SUNY New Paltz have greatly impacted the growing achievements of my career path. The athletic department provides student-athletes with the support needed to be successful both on and off the field. Between the town and both the academic and athletic communities, SUNY New Paltz has not only become my family, but a place to remind me of the most influential moments of my life. It is a privilege to have been able to represent my school and a town that quickly became home by walking out on the field everyday wearing orange and blue. There truly is only one SUNY New Paltz."
