Keydy Espinoza has starred on the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team since coming on as a freshman in 2018. She immediately made an impact on the field, as she appeared in all 14 games in her first season in orange and blue, while playing in all 16 matches with 14 starts the following season and helped the program to its first playoff appearance in its history. Although her junior campaign was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Espinoza still places herself in the Hawks record books in career draw controls, ranking fourth all-time with 131.
Espinoza, who earned a spot on the All-SUNYAC Third Team back in 2018, enters her senior season with SUNY New Paltz in 2021 as she works toward a degree in International Business and Marketing. Â
Espinoza talked about her experience as a Hawk and why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.Â
"I chose to come to New Paltz during my senior year of high school to get a competitive education and lacrosse experience. During my time here, I have formed long-lasting friendships and grown a lot as an individual. Even after I leave New Paltz the influence my coaches and professors have had on me will not be forgotten. I have gained a lot more confidence and learned real life lessons that will help me develop my professional career once I am done with my degree. The staff at the college takes their time to develop you and prepare you for life outside of college. I am thankful to be surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do and want us to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and in the real world. The individuals who make up the faculty at the college make New Paltz different from any other school."
