The State University of New York at New Paltz Athlete of the Week poll is back for the Fall 2022 season! We are allowing the fans, students, campus, and the entire Hawks community decide on who should be the #NPHawks Athlete of the Week. Whichever athlete receives the most votes will be featured on nphawks.com and all #NPHawks social media channels, along with being the special guest on SUNY New Paltz's campus radio show, WFNP's Sports Corner for an interview segment that will be recorded live the following Monday from 8-8:30 p.m.
PollMaker In our sixth edition, the nominees include:
Onalee Batcheller (Women's Tennis),
Sean O'Neill (Men's Soccer),
Mackenzie Williams (Women's Volleyball),
Julia Cummings (Field Hockey), and
Alexis DeLeo (Women's Soccer).
- Onalee Batcheller went undefeated during the Hawks three-day trip to Binghamton. Batcheller recorded an 8-0 win in doubles, and a 6-0 6-0 win in singles while only dropping three games in her doubles matches and 10 games in her singles matches. Batcheller also helped SUNY New Paltz sweep Fredonia, Geneseo and Brockport.
- Sean O'Neill led the Hawks to a 1-0 win over Geneseo this past weekend. In the 74th minute, O'Neill scored the only goal for SUNY New Paltz with an assist from Joseph DiPreta. O'Neill also recorded 90 minutes of playing time to aid in the shutout.
- Mackenzie Williams helped SUNY New Paltz secure four major wins this past weekend in the Hawks Invitational. Williams led every game in kills, recording a total of 56 kills in all four games. Williams also recorded a total of nine aces and 33 digs, which helped SUNY New Paltz sweep the first two games against Misericordia and Drew, while the Hawks only dropped one set in the Suffolk and Manhattanville matches.
- Julia Cummings scored one goal and earned one assist this past week for the Hawks. At FDU-Florham, Cummings gave an assist to Shannon Bernhardt leading the team to a 1-0 victory. Against Geneseo, Cummings scored the only goal for SUNY New Paltz with an assist from Natasia Plunkett.
- Alexis DeLeo was a big contributor in the Hawks game against Geneseo this past weekend. DeLeo played a full 90 minutes while also having 2 shot attempts. DeLeo had the opportunity to score with a free kick late but just missed over the cross bar.
