#NPHawks Athlete of the Week: Spring 2026, Eighth Edition

The State University of New York at New Paltz Athlete of the Week poll is back for the Spring 2026 season! We are allowing the fans, students, campus, and the entire Hawks community to decide on who should be the #NPHawks Athlete of the Week. Whichever athlete receives the most votes will be featured on nphawks.com and all #NPHawks social media channels. Make sure to get your vote in before 11 a.m. on Wednesday!

Sean Cassidy (Men's Lacrosse): Senior long stick midfielder Sean Cassidy had a strong showing this week for the Hawks. On Tuesday against Western Connecticut, he recorded one goal, one assist, and three ground balls while adding a caused turnover. He followed that performance on Saturday against Misericordia with one goal, one assist, and four ground balls.

Geoff Ndoria (Men's Volleyball): Junior outside hitter Geoff Ndoria had a strong stretch this week for the Hawks, earning UVC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honors. On Tuesday in a win over Nichols, he recorded 15 kills, five digs, and three blocks to help lead the attack. He followed that performance on Saturday in a win over Nazareth with 10 kills and four digs in another strong outing.

Tommy Poggi (Baseball): Senior infielder Tommy Poggi had a strong stretch this week for the Hawks. On Tuesday, in a win over Bard, he went two for four with one run scored and two RBI, including two doubles, then followed it up with a hit, a run scored, and two walks on Friday against Kean. He continued his hot play on Saturday in a pair of wins over Westfield State, going three for four with three RBI in the first game before adding another run scored, two walks, and a stolen base in the second game.

Ava Thys (Softball): Junior shortstop Ava Thys had a solid week for the Hawks, earning SUNYAC Softball Athlete of the Week honors. On Friday in a win over New York University she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double, then followed it up with a hit and an RBI in a win over Carnegie Mellon later that day. She continued her solid play on Saturday in a win over Lynchburg, recording another hit while helping lead the Hawks to the victory.

Sam Wohlmut (Women's Lacrosse): Senior defender Sam Wohlmut delivered a strong performance this week for the Hawks, earning SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week honors. On Wednesday, in a win over Manhattanville, she scored a goal while adding six ground balls and seven caused turnovers to lead the defensive effort. She followed that performance on Saturday against TCNJ with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a draw control.
