Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its weekly award winners Monday with junior outside hitter
Mackenzie Williams earning her second-straight SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week nod.
Williams continued her stellar play after receiving her first career SUNYAC weekly honor after guiding her team to four wins at the New Paltz Challenge Tournament Oct. 7 and 8. This past weekend, she did the same but against SUNYAC rivals Fredonia and Buffalo State.
The Windsor, NY native became the offensive catalyst in her team's two 3-0 sweeps over the Blue Devils and Bengals. She totaled 12 kills and averaged four kills per set while hitting .346 with a game-high five aces to lead her team with 17 points in the win over Fredonia. Against Buffalo State the following day, Williams picked up where she left off and finished with a game-high 17 kills to average a staggering 5.67 kills per set, while hitting. 314 with three aces to go along with eight digs and a block.
Williams currently sits third in the SUNYAC in kills and leads the conference in kills per set, averaging 3.59.
Williams and the Hawks are back in action this weekend to close out SUNYAC play in the Hawk Center as they host Oswego Friday at 6 p.m. and Cortland Saturday at 1 p.m.
