SUNY New Paltz Director of Athletics, Wellness, & Recreation Renee Bostic has announced that effective immediately Athletic Communications Director Monica D'Ippolito has been promoted to Senior Director of Athletic Communications, Marketing & Social Media. This promotion reflects the wide variety of professional responsibilities that Ms. D'Ippolito has assumed since her arrival at SUNY New Paltz in the summer of 2017. "We are giving Monica this promotion in recognition of her years of service and the quality of her work," stated Bostic.

At SUNY New Paltz, Ms. D'Ippolito coordinates and oversees all media relations for all 17 men's and women's sports and has served as the media liaison at 13 SUNYAC, two UVC and five NCAA DIII championship events in field hockey, women's and men's volleyball, women and men's cross country, women and men' soccer, women and men's basketball hosted by SUNY New Paltz.

In her capacity as Senior Director of Athletic Communications, Marketing & Social Media, Ms. D'Ippolito is responsible for such essential duties as: developing contacts and relationships with local, regional, and national media to create opportunities for keeping the SUNY New Paltz athletics program in front of the public; serves as a liaison between coaches and student-athletes and press, radio, television and social media venues; maintains the Athletics Department website and assists in website design or redesign as necessary; develops and communicates human interest stories about student-athletes, coaches and the department to share with the media; hires and supervises all student workers and interns within the Athletic Communications department; gathers and maintains statistics for all sports programs; produces and maintains the statistical record and all record books for the athletics department; writes press releases for the department website and other publications; plans and coordinates all video content of coaches and student-athletes; serves as the Athletics Department spokesperson whenever necessary; assigns, monitors, supervises all press box, and scorer's table workers for all sports as required, including statistical staff, public address announcer; nominates student-athletes, former student-athletes, athletics staff and the athletics department for awards and recognition through a variety of organizations (SUNYAC, UVC, NCAA, etc); assists the Hall of Fame committee by providing statistical, biographical, and other information required for the committee to evaluate potential inductees; advises the athletics department staff and student-athletes on media relations.
Prior to joining the SUNY New Paltz Athletics Department, Ms. D'Ippolito was a sports beat reporter for the Baltimore Sun Media Group-Howard County Times; covered high school and college sports for the Plattsburgh Press Republican; served as a freelance sports reporter for a number of publications. She graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2014 with a degree in Journalism Multimedia/Magazine. At SUNY Plattsburgh she was a three-year member of the women's soccer team. A graduate of Mahopac High School, D'Ippolito is still active in area women's soccer and serves as the assistant coach/goalie coach for the girls 2010 team at Force FC in Monroe, NY.
