Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its weekly award winners Monday with junior
Madison Maggs being named as the SUNYAC/PrestoSports Softball Athlete of the Week.

Playing in her first game in two years, and just her fourth collegiate game of her career after a shortened season cut her freshman year short, Maggs showed up Friday in the Hawks' season opener at Rutgers-Camden. In two wins over the Scarlet Raptors, Maggs went 3-for-4 with three runs and six RBI with a .750 batting average and 1.500 slugging percentage.
She had her first at-bat in a pinch-hitting situation in the sixth inning of game one and knocked an RBI single in her only plate appearance of the game. She earned the start at second in game two where she continued her productive afternoon, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and three runs scored, including a fourth-inning grand slam that helped mercy-rule Rutgers-Camden in a five-inning, 11-1 win. In the field, she tallied three putouts with four assists and helped turn a double play in game one.
Maggs becomes the first softball SUNYAC weekly selection since her teammate
Katie Quagliana was named for the third time in the 2019 season.
