Binghamton, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz tennis team stayed perfect in SUNYAC play and picked up its second consecutive 9-0 victory Friday coming against Fredonia State at the Binghamton Tennis Club.
"Another very strong all-around performance," said Hawks coach
Rob Bruley. "Was really pleased the way all three doubles teams took control of the net. We swung freely in our single matches with some great serves and baseline power play. Really pleased for Anya [Barteck], who stepped up and played a solid game at No. 1 singles."
Trinity Chow and
Tatiana Barnett took an 8-2 win at first doubles to get the morning match started with
Onalee Batcheller and
Alexandra Dratch winning, 8-1 at second doubles.
Isabel van der Veen and
Loretta Donovan were dominant in third doubles, not dropping a set in a perfect 8-0 victory.
Freshman Anya Baretck stepped in to play first singles and won, 6-1, 6-1. SUNY New Paltz then didn't drop a single set at second through sixth singles as Batcheller, van der Veen, Barnett, Donovan and
Alex Chimenti all won 6-0, 6-0 at two, three, four, five and six singles, respectively.
The Hawks conclude their three-day trip in Binghamton, NY with a match against The College at Brockport Saturday at noon.
