SUNY New Paltz Women's Lacrosse Rolls to 17-6 Road Win Over Fredonia

Fredonia, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz ended a three-game losing skid and won its second SUNYAC game of the season Saturday, 17-6 over hosting Fredonia State.
 
The Hawks (4-7 overall, 2-3 SUNYAC) dominated from the start, as they took an 8-1 lead after the first 15 minutes. Alyssa Indelicato got the offense started scoring off an assist from Gabby Gagliano. SUNY New Paltz then scored on its next offensive possession with Kaitlyn Shaw putting in a second attempt at goal.
 
The Hawks went on a roll of three goals in the span of 30 seconds to take a 5-0 lead over the Blue Devils. Following a defensive stand, Camryn Ryder scored off an assist by Indelicato with Katie Zito bringing the lead to 7-0 two minutes later.
 
Fredonia scored its first after winning the ensuing draw, but SUNY New Paltz answered with two minutes left in the period, as Shaw netted her fourth of the quarter.

The Blue Devils scored early in the second quarter, but the Hawks answered with four goals to end the half and took a hefty, 12-2 lead at the break. Their lead extended to 15-2 after goals by Zito, Maddy Carullo and Shaw to start the third, but Fredonia answered back with two more before the final 15 minutes of action.

SUNY New Paltz rolled through the fourth with goals from Maddie Gillis and Shaw to conclude the offense for the day and close out the double-digit win.

Shaw set a career-high with six goals in the game to total a team-leading 36 goals on the year. Zito also had six points, as she finished with four goals and two assists. Indelicato followed with five points on two goals and three assists. Carullo and Gagliano each had a team-high three ground balls with Gagliano also leading the team with three caused turnovers.
 
The Hawks are back in action Wednesday when they host SUNY Oneonta on the North Turf Field.
