#NPHawks Athlete of the Week: Fall, Third Edition

The State University of New York at New Paltz Athlete of the Week poll is back for the Fall 2022 season! We are allowing the fans, students, campus, and the entire Hawks community decide on who should be the #NPHawks Athlete of the Week. Whichever athlete receives the most votes will be featured on nphawks.com and all #NPHawks social media channels, along with being the special guest on SUNY New Paltz's campus radio show, WFNP's Sports Corner for an interview segment that will be recorded live the following Monday from 8-8:30 p.m.
 
In our third edition the nominees include, Onalee Batcheller (Women's Tennis), Rachel Eisert (Women's Soccer), Mackenzie Williams (Women's Volleyball), Evan LaBelle (Cross Country), Hannah Ackerman (Field Hockey), and Luca Giammarino (Men's Soccer).

  • Onalee Batcheller was named SUNYAC Doubles Teams of the Week with her partner Anya Barteck. At Oneonta, Batcheller won both her matches helping lead the Hawks to an 8-1 win over the Red Dragons. Batcheller put in two more stellar performances against Oswego and Cortland helping lead SUNY New Paltz to two more 8-1 victories.
  • Hannah Ackerman scored one goal and had one assist in the Hawks' first game of the week against Skidmore aiding in a 3-1 win over the Thoroughbreds. Ackerman also had two assists for SUNY New Paltz in its game against Rochester.
  • Rachel Eisert was named SUNYAC Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. She helped lead the Hawks to shutouts this past week against Bard and Potsdam. At Bard, Eisert scored a goal helping her team to a 3-0 win. In their first conference game at Potsdam, Eisert scored another goal leading to 3-0 win.
  • Luca Giammarino scored the only goal this weekend in the game against Skidmore off a free kick in the 76th minute that tied the game at one goal apiece, which led to the draw against the Thoroughbreds.
  • Mackenzie Williams helped lead the Hawks to two major wins this past week. In their conference opener against Oneonta, She finished with a team-high 14 kills and two aces which helped contribute to their straight-set victory. Williams also led her team to a straight-set victory over Wheaton with eight kills, two aces, and two assists.
  • Evan LaBelle was named the SUNYAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week. She was a crucial part to the Hawks placing first out of 11 teams this past weekend at the New Paltz Invitational. LaBelle won the men's race while running a sub-29-minute 8k.
