Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly winners Monday with the Hawks sweeping offensive and defensive women's volleyball honors.
Junior right side
Jamie Albrecht earned her first SUNYAC weekly accolade, being named the Offensive Player of the Week, while senior outside hitter
Mackenzie Williams earned Defensive Player of the Week to register her third career weekly recognition and first on the defensive side of the ball.
Albrecht, a junior transfer from Springfield College, continued her impressive first season with the program as she earned her first SUNYAC weekly honor. In a 3-0 road sweep of Oneonta, she was the offensive catalyst, leading the way with a game-high 12 kills, averaging four kills per set for a .385 hitting percentage, while adding an assist and a service ace to finish with a game-high 13.5 points.
Williams contributed all over the court in the Hawks' win over the Red Dragons Wednesday. She led the team with a game-high 19 digs, along with tying for a team-high two blocks to go along with 10 kills and two aces for 13 points in the match. The Windsor, NY native enjoyed her first weekly selection of 2023 after being named twice as the offensive player of the week in the conference back in 2022.
SUNY New Paltz's regular season continues this weekend as it goes on the road for non-conference action to face hosting Drew Wednesday before closing out the regular season at the Montclair tri-match Friday and Saturday.
