New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team announced its 2024 schedule Wednesday.
Hawks coach Thomas Seay set up a challenging 40 game schedule for 2024, which includes 12 teams that appeared in their respective postseason tournaments, with three seeing action in the NCAA DIII national baseball tournament.
SUNY New Paltz opens the 2024 season in Virginia Beach, VA at the Virginia Wesleyan Round Robin on Saturday and Sunday, February 24-25, opening up the season against host Virginia Wesleyan University, followed by Alfred State College. On Sunday, the Hawks wrap up their trip with a single game against 2023 NCAA DIII participant Penn State-Harrisburg.
SUNY New Paltz then begins its March slate in West Hartford, CT, playing a doubleheader against the University of Hartford. The next weekend, March 9-10, sees the team traveling to Hackettstown, NJ for a three game set against Centenary University. Saturday, March 16 will see the Hawks open their 2024 home season with a doubleheader against Purchase College. The following weekend, March 22-23, they begin their SUNYAC season hosting SUNY Plattsburgh for a three game matchup.
The team then returns to non-conference play Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday March 27 as they hit the road for single games against SUNY Maritime and Russell Sage College, respectively. At home on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, SUNY New Paltz will host its three-game series against SUNY Fredonia, followed on April 2 by a home game against Hudson Valley rival Mt. St. Mary College. The following day, April 3, the Hawks travel to Riverdale, NY to take on the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a single game.
Next up for the Hawks will be a three game set against neighboring Bard College: at home on Friday, April 5 for a single game and at Bard on Saturday, April 6 for a doubleheader. SUNY New Paltz returns home for two single games on Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10, hosting Ramapo College and Manhattanville College, respectively.
The Hawks resume SUNYAC play on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13, away at Catskill Cup rival SUNY Oneonta for a three game series before playing a single-game midweek matchup against Lehman College Wednesday, April 17.
The weekend of April 19-20 has SUNY New Paltz traveling west to take on 2023 SUNYAC champion and NCAA participant SUNY Brockport for a three game SUNYAC matchup before coming home Wednesday for a four-game home stand. First, on Wednesday, April 24 is a single game against SUNY Cobleskill, then an important three game stand against perennial SUNYAC power and 2023 NCAA participant, SUNY Cortland, on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
The Hawks closes out their regular season home slate on Wednesday, May 1 against St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn before ending the 2024 campaign Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 on the road at SUNY Oswego for a final three-game series prior to the start of the SUNYAC Tournament.
The SUNYAC post-season tournament is scheduled to be played May 9-11 on the home field of the top SUNYAC tournament seed. The winner of the SUNYAC championship will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA DIII championship, to be held on May 9-11 at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
