New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team announced senior right-handed pitcher
Connor Olson as co-captain, joining three-year incumbent
Michael Boccarossa.
"We made Connor captain because he continues to exemplify the things that we preach within our program: selflessness, accountability and attention to detail," said Hawks coach
Thomas Seay. "He continues to do a tremendous job leading our young pitchers."
Olson is having one of his best years as a Hawk thus far, appearing in eight games with an ERA of 3.72 and WHIP of 1.40 with six strikeouts — already reaching a career-high — and holding opposing batters to just .176 average against him. Over the course of his four-year career, Olson has appeared in 20 games with 2020 and 2021 getting cut short due to COVID-19.
Co-captains Olson and Boccarossa will lead SUNY New Paltz this weekend against Oswego State for a three-game series on Loren Campbell Memorial Field starting Friday for a nine-inning single game starting at 3 p.m.
