Rometo and Roman Sweep SUNYAC Softball Weekly Honors

Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz swept weekly softball awards Monday with junior pitcher Lindsay Roman and sophomore outfielder Jackie Rometo named to the weekly honor announced by the conference office.

Both Roman and Rometo captured SUNYAC Pitcher and Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, for the second time this season as the two were the catalysts in helping the Hawks to a program record 16th-straight win after the tam secured a pair of SUNYAC sweeps over Plattsburgh and Potsdam, along with two victories over Baruch this past week.

Rometo, from Montgomery, NY, had a stellar six game stretch both at the plate and in the field during the Hawks' 6-0 week. She went 4-for-5 with two runs, four RBI, a double and a triple Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader against Baruch. Over the weekend, she finished with four runs, six hits, and six RBI to go along with a perfect fielding percentage for the week in sweeps over the Cardinals and Bears.

Rometo's impressive stat line finished as 10-for-18 with six runs, three extra base hits, including two doubles and a triple, 10 RBI, a stolen base and just one strikeout with a batting average of .556, and slugging percentage of .778.
