The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team released its 2023 schedule Monday.
Hawks coach
Kyle Clancy seeks to improve upon last season's 9-5-3 overall and 6-2-1 SUNYAC record but the road will be challenging with nine of 15 opponents having seen postseason action in 2022.
In addition, SUNY New Paltz will be looking for a couple of firsts this season, including landing in the SUNYAC Championship Tournament for the third consecutive year, a feat no other New Paltz men's soccer team has accomplished, and three consecutive winning seasons, something no Hawk team has done since 1969-1971 under legendary coach Bob Durkin.

The Hawks open the 2023 campaign on the road at the Drew/FDU University Fall Festival on Sept. 1 and Sept. 3. Last season the Rangers defeated SUNY New Paltz 2-1 in the tournament first round. Two days later, the Hawks take on St. Elizabeth University, a team that went to the ECAC tournament in 2022.
SUNY New Paltz opens its home season Sept. 6 against defending CUNY Champion and NCAA DIII participant Lehman College. The last time the Hawks met the Lightning was in 2018 with a convincing 5-0 win. Saturday, Sept. 9 will see the Union College Dutchmen visit. Last season the two teams tied at 0-0 in Schenectady.
A challenging four game road trip begins for SUNY New Paltz at cross river rival and regionally ranked Vassar College Sept. 13. Liberty League finalist and regionally ranked Skidmore College entertains the Hawks three days later before they begin conference play against defending SUNYAC champions and nationally ranked Oneonta Sept. 20, followed by a trip to Western New York to take on Buffalo State University.
Two important SUNYAC games follow, both at home, starting with SUNYAC semifinalist SUNY Plattsburgh Sept. 27, then SUNYAC quarterfinalist SUNY Geneseo Sept. 30.
It's off to the North Country to take on SUNY Potsdam Oct. 4, followed by another trip west against regionally ranked and SUNYAC finalist SUNY Brockport Oct. 7.
Three important SUNYAC home matches end the season for the Hawks. First on Oct. 14 SUNY New Paltz hosts the Lakers of SUNY Oswego. Wednesday, Oct. 18 sees nationally ranked, and NCAA DIII third round participant SUNY Cortland visit the South Turf Field. The Blue Devils of Fredonia close out the 2023 season Oct. 21.
The SUNYAC Championship tournament begins with first round games Oct. 28, with the tournament championship game Nov. 4. NCAA DIII competition begins Nov. 10.
