The State University of New York at New Paltz released its 2023 field hockey schedule Thursday.
 
The Hawks saw earn their 12thkconsecutive trip to the SUNYAC postseason tournament in 2022, as they finished with a 10-7 overall and 3-3 SUNYAC record. Coach Shanna Szablinski again has put together a truly competitive schedule for her group, pitting them in non-conference play against some of the best field hockey programs in the Mideast.
 
SUNY New Paltz open the 2023 campaign at home with a weekend matchup against St. Lawrence University Sept. 1 a game against Empire 8 semifinalist Utica University the following afternoon on North Turf Field. Last season the Hawks defeated St. Lawrence 3-0, while in 2021 they downed Utica 7-2.
 
SUNY New Paltz concludes its three game homestand by hosting St. John Fisher, a 2022 Empire 8 semifinalist, Sept. 9.
 
The next six games see the Hawks on the road, beginning with always tough Skidmore College on Sept. 13. A trip to NFHCA No. 18 ranked University of Rochester follows on Sept. 16 before SUNY New Paltz takes on Ramapo College four days later on Sept. 20.
 
The Hawks open up SUNYAC play on the road at SUNY Brockport Sept. 23. They downed the Golden Eagles last season comfortably, 7-0.
 
They return to non-conference action three days later, as SUNY New Paltz faces a tough No. 14 ranked Kean University team Nov. 26 before returning to the SUNYAC with a matchup on the road at Oswego Sept. 30. The Hawks defeated the Lakers, 4-1 in 2022.
 
A two game homestand is next for SUNY New Paltz, facing RPI Oct. 4, then hosting the defending SUNYAC Champions and regionally ranked Cortland Red Dragons Oct. 7. A two-game road trip follows, as the team travels to regionally ranked Ithaca College Oct. 10 and to SUNYAC opponent Morrisville State Oct. 14.
 
Four home matches conclude the 2023 season for the Hawks. First up will be Hartwick College on Oct 18, before hosting 2022 SUNYAC runner up and regionally ranked SUNY Geneseo Oct. 21. The final SUNYAC game of 2023 sees SUNY New Paltz host the Red Dragons of Oneonta on Oct 25 with its final 2023 regular season game against cross river rival and regionally ranked Vassar College Oct. 28.
