Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly winners Monday with Hawks junior forward
Gaby Treble earning her first career conference honor as this week's women's soccer offensive player of the week.
Treble had a record-setting performance in a dominating 9-0 shutout over Buffalo State Saturday on South Turf Field. She became the program's single-game record holder with four goals scored in the win, while totaling eight points on the day, also a single-game program record.
Her first goal of the game came just 24 seconds into the match, as
Mia Baldinger won the ball off the opening kickoff and played a ball to the corner where Treble buried her first opportunity. Seven minutes later, she found the back of the net again putting the Hawks up 2-0 before cementing a hattrick in the 10th minute on a beautifully played ball in by
Rachel Eisert. Treble etched her name in the record books in the second half, scoring off another assist by Baldinger in the 56th minute to push the score to 6-0.
Treble tallied a goal earlier in the week in a 3-1 defeat to Scranton on the road Wednesday, as she finished a ball played over the top by Eisert, beating the Royals' keeper near post to cut the score to 2-1 at the time, and narrowly tied the game off a volley five minutes later if not for the efforts of Scranton's goalie who made a highlight stop on the play.
For the season, Treble ranks second on the team in goals (6) and points (12). She and the Hawks return to SUNYAC play Wednesday as they hit the road to face SUNY Plattsburgh at 4 p.m.
