Manahawkin, NJ — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its weekly national winners Wednesday with Hawks junior forward
Rachel Tama named as the Division III NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week.
Tama collects the accolade after being named as the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office Monday.
She set a single-game program record in goals (5) while tying the single-game points record (11) in a 12-2 rout of SUNY Morrisville Saturday that opened up conference play for the State University of New York New Paltz.
Additionally, Tama tallied an assist in a 4-3 overtime win over Kean, as the No. 21 Hawks improved to 8-1 on the season as they enter a non-conference game Wednesday night on the road against RPI.
Tama, a junior from Hopewell Junction, NY, leads the Hawks in points and goals through nine games, posting 35 points, 14 goals and seven assists thus far.
