Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners Monday with Hawks junior right-hander Sydney Waldon earning her first SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week honor.
 
Waldon had a prolific week after leading her team to two wins in three appearances. She had a career game in a 2-0 win over regional opponent, Manhattanville College as she tossed a complete game while totaling a career-high 10 strikeouts in the shutout. Waldon yielded just one hit in the seven innings pitched. In another pivotal regional victory, Waldon earned the win over NYU after five innings of work. She gave up just three hits and had six strikeouts, while giving up just one walk and three earned runs.
 
Waldon is the second straight Hawk to earn a SUNYAC weekly honor, as Kelsey O'Brien was named to her first Player of the Week nod March 11.
 
SUNY New Paltz returns to the field Saturday and Sunday, playing back-to-back doubleheaders on the road at Rutgers-Camden and Widener, respectively.
