Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners Monday with Hawks sophomore
Lexi Atwater earning her first SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Atwater is the fourth Hawk honored for the weekly accolade this season with SUNY New Paltz earning a recipient for the third consecutive week.
Atwater was critical in her team's 19-8 win over Maritime Saturday on North Turf Field. She led the Hawks with a team-high three caused turnovers, while adding a game-high four ground balls with a game-high five draw controls to go along with six goals, which set a new career high for the second year out of Brighton, NY.
Atwater's performance helped SUNY New Paltz improve its record to 6-0 on the season, which marked the best start in program history.
The Hawks return to North Turf Field Wednesday hosting Manhattanville College at 3 p.m.
