Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its weekly award winners Monday with Hawks junior outfielder
Anthony Pericolosi earning his first athlete of the week recognition after leading his team to a series sweep of Bard College on the weekend.
Pericolosi is the second straight Hawk to be recognized for the conference weekly honor, as second baseman
Tommy Kreider earned his first SUNYAC Player of the Week nod last week and was named as a D3Baseball.com Team of the Week selection.
Pericolosi, a Hofstra and Cortland transfer, was the catalyst offensively for SUNY New Paltz on the road for a three-game series against the Raptors Friday and Saturday. He totaled seven hits, six runs scored, five RBI, two walks and a stolen base while hitting .636 with an on-base-percentage of .643 and a slugging percentage of .909. In game one against Bard, Pericolosi hit 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and a double. The Hawks tallied just four hits in a 3-0 win over the Raptors in game two, one of which came from Pericolosi as he also added two runs that came in the first inning that helped in an early 2-0 lead. He was then perfect at the plate in game three, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs, two RBI and a walk.
SUNY New Paltz has a five-game week ahead starting Tuesday as it hosts Ramapo on Loren Campbell Field at 3:30 p.m.
