SUNY New Paltz Baseball Ranked Sixth in Latest Division III Regional Poll

New Paltz, NY — The latest NCAA Division III baseball poll was released Wednesday with the State University of New York at New Paltz earning a spot at No. 6 in Region III.

The Hawks made program history Wednesday by winning their record-most 23rd game of the season after rolling to an 18-5 win over Mount Saint Mary College in their home finale on Loren Campbell Field. SUNY New Paltz has been backed by its explosive offense, which ranks second in the conference in hits, first in RBI and second in both batting average and slugging percentage as it averages nearly nine runs per game.

Currently at 23-13 overall and 8-7 in the SUNYAC, the Hawks were slotted into the top-seven in the region for the first time in recent memory. They sit above Union at No. 6, behind SUNY Cortland, Ithaca College, Oswego State, St. Joseph's Long Island and Plattsburgh State, respectively.

SUNY New Paltz earned its first win over the Red Dragons of Cortland last weekend to take a game in the three-game series, beating the perennial power for the first time since 2018. It enters its final regular season weekend on the road against the Lakers with playoff seeding on the line, as the Hawks currently sit third in the conference standings, tied with eight wins alongside Oswego which are 8-5 in the SUNYAC.

The series against the Lakers begins Friday at 3 p.m. concluding with a doubleheader Saturday at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday.
