New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz floors have a new look.
The Hawk Center, which hosts its varsity men's and women's volleyball, and men's and women's basketball teams were re-done to highlight the University's unique appeal in the Hudson Valley, while branding their iconic motto "There's Only One."
"It was a great opportunity to showcase the uniqueness of New Paltz that we're a hidden gem of the Hudson Valley," said Hawks Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Renee Bostic.
Along with featuring the 'There's Only One' mantra along the far sideline, 'SUNY New Paltz' and 'Hawks' are shown on either baseline with the outline of the famous scenic Ridge of the Shawangunk Mountains etched on the bench side to create a unique look only seen in the Hawk Center. The new gym floors also feature a new light and dark wood contrast, as inside the 3-point line is highlighted in juxtaposition from the lightwood on the rest of the floor.
Home of the reigning men's and women's basketball SUNYAC Champions, along with three-time SUNYAC winners women's volleyball and two-time national champion men's volleyball, the updated surface hopes to host many more championships in the years to come.
