SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Holds 1-1 Tie Against Buffalo State

Buffalo, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz went on the road to face Buffalo State Saturday and earned a 1-1 tie.

The Bengals went into the game at 11-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the SUNYAC, sitting second in the conference standings with the Hawks coming off a tough home loss against Plattsburgh Wednesday, which dropped their record down to 8-3-3 and 3-2-1, respectively entering the match.

Buffalo State, ranked No. 3 in Region III in the latest United Soccer Coaches rankings after coming off back-to-back 1-1 ties against No. 13 nationally ranked Cortland and No. 5 regionally ranked Oneonta with the Hawks, ranked No. 6 in Region III, looked to bounce back from just their second conference loss of the season.

The game went scoreless until the 86th minute when Alex Wyant finished on a pass from Colin Brant to up his team's lead, 1-0 all but celebrating the upset on the road. However, the Bengals quickly regrouped and scored less than two minutes later in the run of play, as Sam Gregson finished to knot the score, 1-1 which remained until time expired.
