Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference Athlete of the Week recipients Monday with Hawks graduate forward/guard
Brianna Fitzgerald earning her ninth career weekly honor and first of the year.
Fitzgerald was the catalyst in two wins on the week for the Hawks in a career performance. The Dix Hills, NY native scored a career-high 35 points on a productive 11-for-18 shooting from the field in a 72-65 victory over visiting Ithaca Saturday. She was just one point shy of matching a single game program record and with the outing, marks her fourth 30-point game of her career, the most in program history. Fitzgerald added eight rebounds, an assist, a block and three steals in the win.
In a 70-55 rout of Vassar Wednesday, Fitzgerald led the way as she recorded her 17th career double-double, pacing the team in both points (17) and rebounds (15) — the latter category matched a career-high — in 20 minutes of action, shooting an efficient 7-for-11 from the floor, while adding an assist, a block and a steal.
