New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz graduate guard/forward Brianna Fitzgerald was named to her third career D3hoops Team of the Week honor Tuesday after a guiding the Hawks to an undefeated start.
 
After missing the entirety of the 2024-25 season due to injury, Fitzgerald returned to action in more than a year against Mount Saint Mary's College in the team's season opener where she posted 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting with seven rebounds and two assists in just 20 minutes of action as SUNY New Paltz blew out the Knights, 67-44.
 
This past week, she helped the Hawks to two more wins at home. Fitzgerald posted her 17th career double-double with a team-leading 17 points and 15 rebounds, the latter tied a career-high in the category, with one assist, one block and a steal in what turned into another comfortable victory, 70-55 over visiting Vassar in just 24 minutes on the court. Fitzgerald then went off on Saturday, scoring a career-high 35 points, one point of tying the single game program-record for SUNY New Paltz, on an efficient 11-for-18 shooting from the floor and 12-for-19 performance from the foul line, while adding eight rebounds, an assist, a block and three steals in a 72-65 victory over Ithaca.
 
Fitzgerald earns her first D3hoops Team of the Week honor since February 2024 and secures her third of her career, also being named on Jan. 3, 2024, of that same season.
