Oneonta, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz faced the Oneonta Red Dragons Saturday in their final dual meet of the regular season. The women fell to the Red Dragons 85-112 while the men beat Oneonta in a close battle, 104-101.
The team of
Sage Vadney,
Brianna Law,
Chloe Jeffares and
Molly Snyder placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.88. The men's team of
Jack Wirth,
Venn Engstrom,
Jack Samko and
Diego Burgos also placed second, with a time of 1:41.28.
Jayme Fink took second in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:09.34.
Kaylee Gallagher placed fourth with a time of 13:36.57.
Antonio Vavalle touched first in the men's 1000 with a time of 10:49.40.
Abigail Dusseault touched second in the women's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.04, followed by teammate
Sophia Bucci with a time of 2:19.59.
Hayden Brock touched first in the men's race with a time of 1:57.62.
Law took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.25. Samko took first for the men with a time of 22.60.
Vadney touched first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:32.64. Jeffares touched second with a time of 2:35.31, followed by
Erin Donovan with a time of 2:36.67.
Alex Gorzula touched second for the men with a time of 2:01.44.
Candela Sandoval took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.33.
Abigail Keiser touched second with a time of 1:08.14. Samko took first again with a time of 55.06 in the men's race.
Naomi Levey took third in the women's 100 free with a time of 1:00.83. Snyder took fourth with a time of 1:03.17. Engstrom took second for the men with a time of 51.98.
Vadney took second in the 100-back with a time of 1:08.75. Wirth touched first for the men with a time of 55.34.
Vavalle touched first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.03.
Law took first again in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.36. Gorzula finished first on the men's side with a time of 1:02.10, followed by
Xavier Calderon in second with a time of 1:06.45.
The team of Fink, Sandoval, Keiser and Dusseault took second in the women's 800-yard freestyle relay, touching with a time of 9:06.09. The men also took second. The team of Vavalle, Gorzula, Wirth and Brock touched with a time of 7:51.43.
The Hawks will return to the pool for the post season with their four-day championship conference meet in Buffalo, NY. The meet runs from Feb. 19-22 and will consist of daily morning preliminaries followed by nightly final sessions.
