Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball athlete of the week winners with Hawks senior outfielder
Anthony Pericolosi earning his second career SUNYAC Player of the Week honor.
Pericolosi received his first Player of the Week award of 2024 and first since last spring after a prolific offensive week. The Rockville Centre, NY native was dominant at the plate through SUNY New Paltz's five-game winning streak. He led his team with 14 hits, 10 runs scored, 13 RBI and two stolen bases with six extra base hits, including three doubles, a triple and two home runs, batting .583 with a slugging percentage of 1.042.
Pericolosi was the catalyst in a 3-0 series sweep in the Hawks' opening SUNYAC weekend on Loren Campbell Field, going 10-for-14 in the series, including a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, two home runs and six RBI in game one. In game two, Pericolosi went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI and ended the weekend going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. He also was sharp defensively out in right field, gunning down a runner at the plate in the first inning of game two against the Roos which helped keep a 12-0 shutout. The senior is also in the middle of a nine-game hitting streak.
