Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners Monday with Hawks senior defender
Francesca Corozzo named the SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

Corozzo, who earns her first weekly honor of her career, was the defensive catalyst in two SUNYAC victories for the Hawks this past week. She led her team with five ground balls while tallying two caused turnovers in a 23-1 rout of Morrisville Wednesday. On Senior Day Saturday, the Glen Head, NY native had a career game, registering her first point of her career after forcing a turnover on the defensive side, picking up the loose ball and running the length of the field to find teammate
Lexi Atwater for the goal, tallying the assist on the play. She finished the day with a game- and career-high seven ground balls and a game- and career-high four caused turnovers in the 15-5 victory over the Bengals in the snow. She finished the week leading her team in ground balls (12) and caused turnovers (6).
