Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners Monday with Hawks softball senior right-handed pitcher Sydney Waldon capped an illustrious week with her third career SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year honors.
 
It was a historic week for the Maplewood, NJ native who had one of the best weeks in program history. She started what was a six-game slate for SUNY New Paltz, by re-setting the program's single game strikeout record that she had set herself last season, with 17 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Canton, while allowing just a single hit and two walks in a complete game shutout.
 
In her next outing against Oswego, she became just the eighth Hawk to throw a no-hitter in Game 1 over the Lakers, Waldon tossed 12 strikeouts and yielded just three walks on 26 batters faced in a complete, seven innings pitched. She then came in to close out Game 2 against Oswego, holding onto a 2-1 lead in the eighth to earn the save and help her team to the doubleheader sweep.
 
Waldon then cemented her name in Hawks history, throwing just the second ever perfect game, retiring all 21 batters without allowing a single base runner on to highlight a memorable Senior Day performance with a 3-0 win over Morrisville. In the outing, she also matched the single-game program record with 17 strikeouts and tallied her sixth complete game shutout, including her fifth straight.
 
Through the four games she appeared in, Waldon allowed just a single hit and seven walks, while striking out 48 batters in 22 innings pitched while holding a k/7 of 15.27, an ERA of 0.00 and a WHIP of .41 with three complete game shutouts and a save.

Waldon and the Hawks are back in action Tuesday, hosting SUNY Cortland in a doubleheader on Mary Gray Deane Field starting at 1 p.m.
