Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2025 Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year Wednesday with Hawks senior
Tommy Kreider named for the second straight year.
Kreider was the first in program history to earn the prestigious award, which recognizes athletic and academic excellence within the conference and now becomes the first two-time honoree in program history.
The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year recognizes student-athletes in each respective sport for their prowess both in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, student-athletes must sustain at least a 3.30 GPA and demonstrates academic and athletic excellence, must be a starter or significant role player and at least a sophomore in standing.
The accolade is another notch on a Hall of Fame like career for Kreider who leaves as the most decorated student-athlete in SUNY New Paltz Baseball history. Along with now becoming a two-time SUNYAC Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year, the New City, NY native has earned SUNYAC Player of the Year, SUNYAC Tournament MVP, Division III SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year, D3Baseball Preseason All-American along with being a two-time ABCA/Rawlings All-American, two-time D3Baseball.com All-American, 3x ABCA All-Region First Team and 3x All-SUNYAC select while holding 16 different program records.
Academically, Kreider has also excelled as he earned a spot on the SUNYAC Commissioner's List each of his four seasons while also being enshrined into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society while graduating with high honors as an accounting major.
