SUNY New Paltz Women’s Basketball Announces Incoming Class for 2025-26 Season

New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz women's basketball program announced its incoming class for the 2025-26 season Wednesday.
 
The Hawks, entering their final stint in the SUNYAC, eyes one last title in the State University of New York Athletic Conference and seventh since 2016, but will need to fill holes left by three starters and two more to graduation. However, they bring in four into the program as they rely on the young, talented spark of youth to bring them back atop of the conference standings after falling in the SUNYAC finals round a season ago.

Deanna Barry was a four-year varsity player for Highland High School. During her playing career, the Huskies were Section IX, Class B Champions (2023-24) and Section IX, Class A semifinalists (2024025) in addition to challenging for the Mid-Hudson Athletic League title each year.
 
Barry was a two-time NYSPHSAA All NYS selection; a two-time Section IX First Team and a two-time Poughkeepsie Journal All-Region pick.
 
She was named to the 2025 BCANY Section IX Top 50 All Star roster and was selected to the Varsity 845 2024-25 Class A Watch List.
 
The Highland, NY native averaged 16.7 points per game in 2024-25, leading Highland HS to the MHAL finals and Section IX Class A semifinals.

Kayden Cornell is an athletic, long guard who can play in multiple spots for the Hawks. She will additionally star for the SUNY New Paltz women's lacrosse program this spring.
 
The Schenectady, NY native was a two-year varsity player for Colonie Central High School, playing at either the shooting or point guard position. 
 
Cornell, who has been playing basketball since the first grade, was a part of the Wolfpack's back-to-back Section 2, Class AAA championship teams. In her senior year, she was awarded the 15forLife Award from Colonie Central High School and earned the Clearly Award for girls' basketball in her final season at Colonie.
 
Coming from an athletic lineage, Cornell's mother, Nicole, played college basketball at Keene State.

Macie Perry was a four-year varsity player for Broadalbin-Perth and will add needed depth to a young unit for the Hawks.
 
Perry was an integral in leading the Panthers to a 20-2 season and a 15-1 conference record this past winter. She aided in the team's pursuit of a 2024-25 Foothill Council title and finals of the Section 2, Class A championship. 
 
In doing so, Perry earned First Team Foothills Council honors and was a NYSPHSAA Class A All-State selection in her senior year.
 
Perry also played four years of varsity soccer for the Panthers. In her junior and senior soccer seasons, the Panthers were undefeated in league play and were in the final of the 2024 Section 2, Class A soccer championship.

As with her twin sister Macie, Summer Perry was a four-year varsity player for Broadalbin-Perth HS and will provide another long, athletic talent to the Hawks' roster.
 
During her senior season, Perry helped lead the Panthers to a 20-2 season and a 15-1 league record. She was integral in leading the Panthers to a 2024-25 Foothills Council title and trip to the finals of the Section 2, Class A championship.
 
Perry earned First Team Foothills Council honors and was selected to the NPYPHSAA Class A All-State team as a senior.
 
Perry was also a member of the Broadalbin-Perth girls soccer team during her high school career.
