#NPHawks Athlete of the Week: Spring 2026, 1st Edition

The State University of New York at New Paltz Athlete of the Week poll is back for the Spring 2026 season! We are allowing the fans, students, campus, and the entire Hawks community to decide on who should be the #NPHawks Athlete of the Week. Whichever athlete receives the most votes will be featured on nphawks.com and all #NPHawks social media channels. Make sure to get your vote in before 11 a.m. on Wednesday!

Trevor Amalfitano (Men's Basketball): Sophomore guard Trevor Amalfitano delivered an exceptional week, putting on a true scoring clinic for the Hawks. He opened the week on Tuesday against Canton with a strong performance, scoring 20 points while adding four steals and three rebounds. Amalfitano followed that up on Saturday against Potsdam with a career high 29 points on an efficient 52 percent shooting clip, leading the Hawks to a crucial victory. To close out the weekend, he finished with 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists in a dominant win over Plattsburgh.
 
Brianna Fitzgerald (Women's Basketball):A dominant week from Fitzgerald propelled the Hawks to an undefeated stretch. She opened the week with a stellar all around performance, posting 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in a big win over Canton. Fitzgerald followed that by leading the Hawks to a commanding 44 point victory over Potsdam, where she etched her name into the record books with a historic quadruple double. In just 27 minutes of action while sitting the entire fourth quarter, she recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, 11 steals, and 10 assists. To cap off her tremendous week, Fitzgerald led the Hawks past Plattsburgh, finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals to cement her status as a two time All American.

Nikko Tenedorio (Men's Volleyball): Sophomore outside hitter Nikko Tenedorio picked up right where he left off after an outstanding freshman campaign, delivering another dominant week for the Hawks. He opened the week with 18.5 points, recording 17 kills and nine digs in a win over Kean. Tenedorio followed that performance with 23 points, highlighted by 19 kills and eight digs against Juniata on Friday. He continued to stay hot with 19 points, including 15 kills and 10 digs in a victory over Hobart. To close out the Juniata Invitational, Tenedorio added 14 points on 14 kills and three digs, capping off an impressive stretch of performances.
