New Paltz, NY — The United Volleyball Conference (UVC) announced its weekly winners Monday with Hawks sophomore outside hitter
Nikko Tenedorio earning his first career Player of the Week recognition in the State University of New York New Paltz opening weekend of the 2026 season.
Tenedorio, who was the recipient of five UVC Rookie of the Week honors last season in his first year with the Hawks, is the team's first Player of the Week selection since
Geoff Ndoria was named in March of last year.
The Bay Shore, NY native led SUNY New Paltz is kills and points through a four-game week to help his team to a 3-1 start to the season.
In the Hawks' season opener on the road at Kean, Teendorio totaled 17 kills on 29 attempts, hitting a productive .448 with two assists, an ace, a block and nine digs for 18.5 points in a four-set victory over the Cougars. He then posted a season-high 23 points in a five-set loss to Juniata Friday, finishing with a team-high 19 kills on 40 attempts, hitting .350 with two assists, three aces, two blocks and eight digs.
Tenedorio recorded a team-high 15 kills and 19 points in SUNY New Paltz's five-set victory over Hobart Saturday, while adding three assists, three blocks and 10 digs. He then ended the afternoon with a 14-kill performance in a four-set victory over Widener, while also contributing three digs.
Tenedorio and the Hawks are back in action Wednesday, hosting No. 5 Stevens in the Hawk Center for their home opener at 7 p.m.
