Syracuse, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners Monday with SUNY New Paltz sweeping the selections. Senior attacker
Lexi Atwater earned her first offensive player of the week award of the year, while senior midfielder
Morgan Atwater earned her first defensive player of the week award this season.
In SUNY New Paltz's season opener at Utica,
Lexi Atwater lifted the Hawks to a 17-7 victory, tying a career-high seven goals while adding an assist for a game-high eight points. With the stat line, the Brighton, NY native tied for third for most goals in the program's single-game history, while her eight points were tied for fifth most. Along with the offensive success,
Lexi Atwater tacked on two ground balls and four draw controls.
On the other side of the ball,
Morgan Atwater locked down 12 draw controls on the circle, setting a career high and a new single-game program record. Along with her success on the draw,
Morgan Atwater picked up two ground balls to tie a team game-high. Offensively, she added three goals and an assist.
