We are allowing the fans, students, campus, and the entire Hawks community to decide on who should be the #NPHawks Athlete of the Week. Trevor Amalfitano (Men's Basketball): Trevor Amalfitano backed up a career-high 33-point performance in a huge win against the Cardinals and a 21-point outing Saturday in a win against Potsdam.
Lexi Atwater (Women's Lacrosse): Lexi Atwater carried the team offensively, matching a career-high seven goals during their season opener against Utica, scoring five in the first quarter to open up the season in dominant fashion.
Alexis Egbert (Women's Swim): Alexis scored 32 individual points for the Hawks at SUNYACs this year. She placed fifth overall in the 100 free with a time of 56.34 and placed seventh overall in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.89. She competed in four relays, scoring a total of 108 points.
Alex Gorzula (Men's Swim): Alex Gorzula won a gold medal in the 400 Individual medley and went a time of 4:11.84, which was two seconds faster than his competitors. Alex scored 53 individual points for the Hawks at their SUNYAC championship and competed in four relays, which scored points for the Hawks as well. Alex also broke his own school record in the 200 breast by 5 seconds with a time of 2:05.02, earning him a silver medal in the event.
Matt Marusza (Men's Volleyball): Junior Matt Marusza orchestrated the offense to perfection, dishing out 29 assists in a win over MIT and following it up with 40 more against St. Joseph's (L.I.).
Michael Plante (Men's Lacrosse): Michael Plante kicked off the season by finding the back of the net twice in the Hawks' opener against Maritime, igniting the offense and setting the stage for what promises to be a big year.
Matt Sarni (Men's Baseball): Matt Sarni delivered clutch power in the season opener against Virginia Wesleyan, crushing a two-run shot in the seventh to cut the deficit to three. He kept the momentum rolling in game two, crossing the plate three times to power the Hawks' offense.
Hannah Vanderzee (Women's Basketball): Hannah Vanderzee carried the load offensively against Potsdam as she scored a season-high 21 points on a season-high 10 made field goals on a career-high 21 attempts, while also setting career highs with five steals and five blocks, while notching her third double-double of the year with a game-high 11 rebounds, while adding three assists.
