KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team's 200 medley relay foursome of sophomore Yuka Suzuka (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), senior Becky Baker (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), sophomore Carly Marshall (Cornwall, N.Y.) and junior Christine Rieth (Penfield, N.Y.) placed 23rd in the preliminary heats on day one of the 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on Wednesday morning.

The Hawk quartet clocked a 1:47.67, which stood more than a second slower than its seed time of 1:46.44. Rieth also swam the 50 freestyle in the morning heats, registering a 24.37 for 46th overall in the event.

New Paltz will contest the 400 medley relay tomorrow morning.

The 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships are co-hosted by Beloit College and the College of Wooster at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee. The meet runs from Wednesday, March 23, through Saturday, March 26, with prelims and finals starting at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, each day.
