BUFFALO – After qualifying for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Volleyball Championship Tournament final for four straight years, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (32-8) found itself on the losing end of a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) decision to Buffalo State (26-7) in the semifinal round of the 2012 SUNYAC Volleyball Championship Tournament on Saturday at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
The loss puts the Hawks' chances for an at-large bid into the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament in jeopardy. As of the most recent NCAA regional rankings, New Paltz was ranked third in the New York Region, while Buffalo State was ranked sixth. There will be a selection show unveiling the official tournament field for this year's NCAA Championship Tournament on Monday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. on www.ncaa.com.
New Paltz was done in by a season-low .082 hitting percentage, while Buffalo State was stellar defensively with 82 digs and hit .203 for the match.

Becca Borquist (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) keyed the Hawk offense with 10 kills, while junior setter
Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added 32 assists. Sophomore libero
Katy Herbst (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and junior libero
Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) had 13 digs apiece, while Borquist collected 12 digs.
Sam Parente's 10 kills and .304 hitting percentage led the Bengal attack, while Kelsey Bashore contributed 30 assists. Chelsea Moore was impressive defensively with 26 digs, while Sarah Horvath (15), Allie Opera (12) and Bashore all boasted double-digit dig totals.
