NEW PALTZ, N.Y. –
Bryan Lurie, formerly the head athletic trainer and assistant athletics director at the University of Scranton, has been chosen as the new head athletic trainer at the State University of New York at New Paltz, as announced by New Paltz director of athletics
Stuart Robinson.
“I think Bryan's background and experience at different institutions ranging from Division I through Division III gives him a breadth of experience with regard to the needs of student-athletes,” Robinson said. “We are excited to have someone of his experience join our staff, and we look forward to him continuing to maintain and build upon the medical care for our student-athletes.”
Lurie previously served as the head athletic trainer and as an assistant athletic director at Scranton from 2008-12. While serving in that role, he oversaw the needs and general welfare for more than 400 Royal student-athletes across 18 NCAA Division III sports. Before joining Scranton's staff, Lurie was an assistant athletic trainer at Lafayette College, where he worked primary with the football, women's basketball and men's lacrosse teams.
While working as an assistant athletic trainer at Eastern Mennonite University, Lurie earned his Master of Science degree in nutrition and physical activity from James Madison University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training with a minor in nutrition from West Chester University.
Lurie is an instructor of first aid and CPR/AED by the American Red Cross and a certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification. He is a long-standing member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
