SUNY New Paltz Welcomes Ian Shultis to the Athletic Training Staff

New Paltz, NY — For the 2024-2025 academic year, the State University of New York New Paltz announced it has welcomed Ian Shultis as the newest member of the Athletic Training Department.

Shultis joins the Hawks' staff after a year served at Vassar College, where he worked as the Associate Head of Athletic Training for the 2023-2024 academic year. Before his stint as the Associate Head,  Shultis served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2014 to 2018. Along with his time with the Brewers, Shultis worked across the Hudson Valley in outpatient orthopedics, active in the specialty since 2021.

Prior to his work, Shultis graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2014 and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, also from Marist, in 2021.

Besides his time in collegiate athletics, Schultis has worked with numerous nationally recognized teams. Since 2014, he has been an active member of the Sports Medicine team for USA Fencing, traveling within and outside of the United States. He also had worked with both high school and U-20 Track and Field Championships. More recently, he worked with USA Track and Field in Eugene, Oregon, for the Olympic Trials.

Shultis is a much needed addition to the training room, as the broadened staff will now allow athletes to be seen and treated more efficiently, and he brings prior experience and knowledge to the table. He joins Interim Head Athletic Trainer Allison Lindsay and Assistant Athletic Trainer Owen Corrigan.

"I'm excited to join the Sports Medicine staff in order to make a positive impact for the student-athlete experience here at SUNY New Paltz," said Shultis.
