New Paltz, NY — After nearly 12 years at the State University of New York at New Paltz, head athletic trainer Bryan Lurie is stepping down.
"We're going to miss Bryan," said Hawks Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Renee Bostic. "He is a fierce supporter of our student-athletes and leaves a tremendous legacy here at SUNY New Paltz."
Lurie was an integral part of the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Department, serving as the lead administrator for Sports Medicine in the Department. He oversaw the athletic training staff and provided support for the Hawks' 16 NCAA Division III varsity programs.
Prior to SUN New Paltz, he served as the head athletic trainer at the University of Scranton before serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Lafayette College. Lurie earned his Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Physical Activity from James Madison University in 2005 and holds a bachelor's degree in athletic training with a minor in nutrition from West Chester University in 2003. He will return to his home state of Pennsylvania where he will take over as the Head Athletic Trainer at Swarthmore College.
"It was a very difficult decision deciding to move on," Lurie said. "I've had a really good experience with the people I've worked with here. The past 11 years I've seen a lot of growth at New Paltz and wish everyone the best in the future."
