NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team continues its five-game stretch and looks to continue a three-game winning streak as the Hawks travel to Kean University on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. for a non-conference bout.

RECORDS: New Paltz enters the contest at 8-4 while Kean is 9-4 and has won three of its last four contests.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS: The Hawks are in the midst of a five-game road trip, winning their first three contests thus far… New Paltz improved to 3-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) with wins over The College of Brockport and SUNY Geneseo, both by the scores of 3-1… During the week, the Hawks traveled to Stevens Institute of Technology and secured another victory, 4-2… Sophomore forward Kayla McKeveny scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Hawks offense… Senior midfielder Deirdre O'Neill and freshman forward Justine O'Reilly each added a goal… Sophomore forward Erin Landy and sophomore back Macayla Terwilliger contributed with an assist each… New Paltz dominated the game with a 30-14 advantage in shots and a 17-7 edge in penalty corners… Junior goalkeeper Alayna Wageman picked up her eighth win of the season while making four stops… The Hawks are 5-2 on the road.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior forward and co-captain Dani Ackerman leads the SUNYAC in shots with 60, averaging five a game… McKeveny leads the team in points (19), goals (7) and assists (5)… Ackerman has six goals, O'Neill and O'Reilly each have five, Landy has four, and two players have two goals… Junior co-captain Jessica Caruana also has five assists followed by O'Neill who has four…Wageman has started in all 12 games, registering 66 saves with a SUNYAC-high two shutouts and boasts a .758 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks are outscoring opponents 31-22, averaging 2.58 goals per game… New Paltz has fired off 204 shots with 134 being on target… New Paltz has earned 144 penalty corners, a huge advantage over their opponent's 63.


SCOUTING THE COUGARS (9-4): Kean defeated Ramapo College 4-1 on Tuesday in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action... The Cougars scored three first-half goals, including a pair by freshman forward Krista LaMaina... Junior forward/midfielder Chelsea Mann tallied a goal only 1:23 into the game... Kean opened up the year winning the Connie Harnum Classic hosted by Susquehanna University... After consecutive losses on Sept. 6 and Sept. 9, the Cougars won five of its last six games in September... Kean was predicted to finish fifth in the 2014 NJAC Preseason Poll... Junior midfielder Marissa Robinson leads the NJAC in shots (109) and shots per game (8.38) and ranks in the top-five in points (29) and points per game (2.23).

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Robinson leads the team in goals (12), assists (5), points (29), shots (109) and shots on goal (60)... LaMaina has tallied eight goals and four assists... Mann has scored seven goals... Sophomore forward Bridgette Bottinelli has six goals, including three game winners... 10 different players have scored at least one goal... Junior goalkeeper Katie DiCarlo is 9-4 with a GAA of 1.72, a .700 save percentage, 49 saves and two shutouts.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Cougars have outscored teams 41-24, outshooting opponents 289-141... Kean holds a 180-86 shots-on-goal advantage... The Cougars have attempted 174 penalty corners and have allowed 81... Kean has outshot teams 140-58 in the first half, outscoring teams 19-11.

LAST MEETING: Late goal lifted Kean past New Paltz, 2-1, when the two teams last met on Nov. 2, 2013 


WHAT'S NEXT: The Hawks resume SUNYAC competition and wrap up their five-game road trip at SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.... The Cougars host The College of New Jersey in an NJAC contest on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
