NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team continues its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) schedule, as the Hawks travel to take on The College at Brockport on Friday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m, and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.

RECORDS: The Hawks enter the weekend at 5-4, 1-1 SUNYAC after earning a win and taking a loss last weekend against SUNY Oswego and SUNY Cortland, respectively... Brockport is 3-6, 2-0 SUNYAC, while Geneseo holds a 3-6, 1-0 SUNYAC record.


SCOUTING THE HAWKS (5-4, 1-1 SUNYAC): The Hawks hit the road to begin a span of five consecutive away games... New Paltz opened up its SUNYAC season last weekend, beating Oswego, 2-0, before losing to Cortland, 3-0... Against Oswego, sophomore forward Erin Landy scored the first goal off a pass from sophomore forward Kayla McKeveny, and was then followed by a goal from freshman forward Justine O'Reilly, again with an assist from McKeveny... New Paltz outshot the Lakers, 26-3, and held a 21-2 advantage in penalty corners... Against Cortland, New Paltz attempted eight shots and five penalty corners but were unable to record a goal... Junior goalkeeper Alayna Wageman played 60 minutes against Oswego and finished with two saves before freshman goalkeeper Megan Gangewere made her collegiate debut in the final 10 minutes... Gangewere did not face a shot... Wageman played the whole game against Cortland and recorded eight saves.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: McKeveny leads the team in points (11), goals (4), assists (3) and shots (25)... Landy and sophomore midfielder/forward Dani Ackerman also have notched four goals, with four other players scoring at least two goals... Junior back Jessica Caruana leads the SUNYAC in assists with five, while Ackerman leads the SUNYAC in shots with 41... Wageman has started all nine games, making 60 saves with a .769 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks have recorded 134 shots and have outscored opponents, 21-18... New Paltz also holds an edge in penalty corners, 105 to 48.


SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (3-7, 2-0 SUNYAC): Brockport look to add to its two wins in SUNYAC competition, as it edged Oswego, 2-1, in a double-overtime and shootout game and beat Morrisville State College, 6-0... Sophomore midfielder Nickole Morgan assisted senior defender Alyssa Mills for the goal... After ending regulation and overtime 1-1, sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Farrell made 14 penalty saves before Morgan scored on the 15thpenalty stroke to give Brockport the 2-1 win... In addition to the 14 penalty saves, Farrell recorded nine saves during regulation and overtime... Brockport recorded 42 shots and 14 penalty corners in its 6-0 win against Morrisville... Freshman midfielder Margo Tremaine and senior forward Abby Eschen each scored two goals, while Mills and sophomore midfielder/forward Emilee Boddery each tallied one... Eschen and Tremaine each assisted a goal, with sophomore forward Nicole Fazzolari assisting two and freshman forward Amy Masciale adding one... Farrel recorded seven saves in the shutout win.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Eschen leads the team in points (9), goals (4) and shots (24)... Mills has tallied three goals, Tremaine two, and two other players have a goal each... Masciale, Boddery and Fazzolari have two assists each... Farrell has started in nine games, recording a SUNYAC-high two shutouts while making 85 saves and leading the SUNYAC with an .833 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: Brockport has fired 122 shots with an average of 12.2 per game... The Golden Eagles have also had attempted 61 penalty corners.

LAST MEETING: New Paltz bounced back with 4-0 shutout over Brockport when these two teams last met on Sept. 28, 2013.


SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (3-6, 1-0 SUNYAC): Geneseo opened up SUNYAC competition on Sept. 20 with a 7-2 win over Morisville... Freshman forwards Emma Dempsey and Cara Stafford each scored two goals, while senior defender Ashely Favata, junior forward Kailey Suhr and junior forward Sarah Malinak each added a goal... Dempsey assisted two goals, with Favata, Suhr and Malinak each assisting one... Junior goalkeeper Dayna Mercer made two saves before making way for senior goalkeeper Heidi Deppmeyer, who faced one shot... Geneseo then fell 2-0 to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday... Geneseo recorded 17 shots, five in the first half and 12 in the second, and earned five penalty corners... Mercer made 11 saves in the loss.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Freshman forward/midfielder Cara Stafford leads the team in points (10), goals (5) and shots (17)... Dempsey has three goals, with four other players scoring at least one goal... Malinak leads the team with five assists, while Dempsey has two helpers... Mercer has started all nine games, making 74 saves with a .725 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: Geneseo has scored 13 goals while attempting 96 shots, 55 of them being on goal... The Knights have also earned 51 penalty corners.

LAST MEETING: The Hawks defeated Geneseo, 2-1, to reach SUNYAC Championship when these two teams last met on Nov. 8, 2013.


WHAT'S NEXT: The Hawks continue their five-game road swing, playing at the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m.... Brockport hosts SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.... Geneseo plays at Nazareth College on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m.
