NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - After falling for the first time this season at No. 8 Montclair State on Wednesday night, the State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team looks to bounce back at No. 4 Skidmore on Saturday at 1 p.m.

RECORDS: The Hawks bring a 3-1 mark into Saturday's contest...the Thoroughbreds are 3-0, winning all their games by at least four goals.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS (3-1): New Paltz fell at No. 8 Montclair State 1-0 on Wednesday evening...junior goalkeeper Alayna Wageman made 12 stops against the Red Hawks...Wageman recently earned State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 7...New Paltz also played consecutive games last season with ranked Montclair State and Skidmore as the Red Hawks were No. 1 and the Thoroughbreds No. 15.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior forward/midfielder Dani Ackerman leads the team in goals (4), points (8) and shots (23)...junior back Jessica Caruana is second on the team in assists (3), points (7) and shots (17)...sophomore forward Kayla McKeveny has registered two goals...senior midfielder Deirdre O'Neill leads the squad with four assists... Wageman is 3-1 with a goals against average of 0.75 and a .893 save percentage, making 25 saves, allowing just three goals and recording two shut outs.

TEAM STATISTICS: New Paltz has outscored opponents 11-3, outshooting teams 60-51...the Hawks hold a 55-24 penalty corner advantage...New Paltz has outscored foes 8-1 in the second half, outshooting teams 34-19 in that period.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS (3-0): Skidmore has shutout opponents twice in the first three contests...the Thoroughbreds won 12-0 in the season opener vs. Castleton State and defeated SUNY Cortland 7-3 the next day...Skidmore also defeated SUNY Geneseo 5-0 on Sept. 6...the team is enjoying a five-game homestand to open up 2014...junior forward Dani DeGregory was named to the Liberty League honor roll after scoring her third hat trick in as many games.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: DeGregory leads the team in goals (9), points (20), shots (40) and shots on goal (28)...senior forward Sam Skott is second on the squad with five goals and 10 points...senior forward Melanie Webb and junior back Jenn Hanks both have three goals apiece...sophomore midfielder Krista Lamoreaux leads the team with five assists...senior goalkeeper Amy Beck is 3-0 with a 1.03 goals against average and a .500 save percentage, recording three saves.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Thoroughbreds have outscored opponents 24-3, outshooting teams 104-13...Skidmore holds a 69-7 shots on goal edge and 42-10 penalty corner advantage...the Thoroughbreds hold a 16-1 margin in first half goals.

WHAT'S NEXT: New Paltz travels to Union (N.Y.) on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m....Skidmore hosts Babson on Sunday at 1 p.m.
