Binghamton, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team cruised into the semifinals after a 5-0 shutout of Oswego State.
The Hawks swept doubles play only dropping a single game.
Carol Tyson and
Brittany Grandville took first doubles 8-0 while
Emi Lewis and
Courtney Koran followed suit with an 8-0 victory of their own at second doubles.
Lindsay Haley and
Jenna Grandville took third doubles 8-1.
SUNY New Paltz only needed two more points to seal the win and seniors
Brittany Grandville and
Emi Lewis were the first to take care of business as they won 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
It was a very professional display from our team today," said head coach
Rob Bruley. "The team started out really strong in doubles play which carried over into singles play."
Cortland defeated Fredonia in the other quarterfinal so the Hawks will take on the Red Dragons at noon tomorrow where the winner will advance to the finals.
Bruley said, "Looking forward to a tough match with Cortland tomorrow where we must get off to a quick start in doubles."
