SUNY New Paltz Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to William Smith

| By:
Box Score The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team fell short against William Smith College as they trailed 6-1 when the rain hit and ended the match.

The Hawks dropped all three doubles by scores of 8-3, 8-2, and 8-1, respectively. However, SUNY New Paltz bounced back strong in singles yet again.

Senior co-captain Brittany Grandville fell at first singles 6-2, 6-2 while sophomore Victoria Zezula dropped her match at sixth singles 6-2, 6-3. Freshman fifth singles player Courtney Koran notched the first win for the Hawks with a comeback win in a super-tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. Senior fourth singles player Emi Lewis was unable to do the same in the tiebreaker and lost 1-6, 6-4, 10-6. Carol Tyson and Jenna Grandville were unable to finish their matches at second and third singles, respectively.

Head coach Rob Bruley was happy with the effort his players put forth against a tough Herons team, but was disappointed the weather came early and didn't give his players a chance to pull out their last two matches.

SUNY New Paltz gets back on the courts tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. against Oberlin College. Be sure to follow @nphawks on Twitter and @newpaltzhawks on Instagram and Facebook for updates, highlights, videos, photos and more.
