SUNY New Paltz Tennis Earns Second-Straight 9-0 Victory, Defeating Oswego State Saturday

Box Score New Paltz, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz tennis team's dominating weekend continued Saturday, as the Hawks (2-0 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC) defeated visiting Oswego State (1-5, 0-3), 9-0, losing a combined seven points in the commanding victory.

"Another very strong dominant all-around performance," said SUNY New Paltz coach Rob Bruley. "Really pleased with the way the team is coming together. Players are starting to put the patterns of play we have been working on in practice into their game-day play. Another very strong doubles display. I'm looking forward to our doubles teams improving after every match. "

Coming off a 9-0 win over SUNY Cortland Friday, the Hawks took their momentum into Saturday against the Lakers. Laura Koob (first singles), Victoria Zezula (second singles), Courtney Koran (fourth singles) and Lindsay Haley (fifth singles) all rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories over their opposition.

Jenna Grandville defeated Oswego State's Haru Kobayashi, 6-3, 6-2, in third singles, while Maddy Bourne, playing at sixth singles, earned a 6-1, 6-0, victory over the Lakers' Erin Vargo.

Zezula and Haley cruised to an 8-0 win against Oswego State's Lorrayne Broach and Eliza Johnson in second doubles. Chow and Koob defeated Bridget Bender and Kobayashi in first doubles, 8-1, while Koran and Messenger also earned an 8-1 victory in third doubles, beating Vargo and Alesha Pilon.

SUNY New Paltz is on the road Tuesday to take on Catskill Cup rival SUNY Oneonta for a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) match before coming back home to face Plattsburgh State Saturday.
