GAME PREVIEW: SUNY New Paltz Hopes to Extend Winning Streak on the Road Against Eastern Connecticut

| By:
After enjoying back-to-back home wins, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team will travel to take on Eastern Connecticut State University Tuesday.

The Hawks' (3-2 overall) most recent wins were defined by the 10 point leads they held over their competitors. The two games combined boasted incredible records, totaling just 23 turnovers, 33 draw controls and 24 ground balls. Sophomore attackers Amy Hofer and Tara Bovich netted 10 and eight ground balls, respectively, and sophomore goalkeeper Haley Timarky made eight saves during the winning streak.

After defeating Farmingdale State College, 17-7, and Manhattanville College, 22-12, the Hawks enter the game with confidence in another commanding victory, and with the objective to win by even greater magnitudes.

"We are looking for a solid focused start again, [to] carry our momentum from last game and not become complacent," said Hawks coach Keith Detelj.

The match will be the first between Eastern Connecticut and the Hawks, which the Warriors approach with an 0-6 overall record. The game marks Eastern Connecticut's return from spring training in Florida, where it faced and suffered losses against Bridgewater State University, 19-8, and fellow Hudson Valley resident, Vassar College, 17-2.

Tuesday's game signals the end of the regular season for the Hawks before heading into its first game against State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival, SUNY Potsdam. The team hopes for another challenging competition that will allow the players to demonstrate their improvement and superior skills, proving they are a squad to be reckoned with.

"It's a good time to focus on our next step of our season with less distractions, but right now we are looking to best our last performance and finish our last non-conference play strong," Detelj said.

The Hawks will travel to Willimantic, Connecticut Tuesday to face off Eastern Connecticut State University at 6:30 p.m.
